Tungna is popular musical instrument in Himalayan regions of Nepal. Tungna is a plucked string instrument played by Tamang, Gurung and Sherpa community in the Himalayan region. It is played in auspicious occasions like new year, marriage and also in gatherings and festivals. They are carved out from a single piece of wood. Made of wood painted in green, yellow and red on the front and back. The scroll is carved in the form of a demon's head, the bowl is spherical and covered with skin that is painted. There are four remaining wooden pegs with conical finials, the strings are held at the base with a nail.
